Jack Patrick Bina – Obituary

Jack Patrick Bina, age 70, resident of Grand Forks, ND passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, April 25th at 2:48 AM in Grand Forks.

Jack was born on March 17, 1954, in Grand Forks, ND. He was the son of Edward and Effie (Lunski) Bina. He grew up in Grand Forks where he graduated from Grand Forks Central High School with the Class of 1972. He attended the North Dakota State School of Science graduating with a degree in Architectural Drafting on May 23rd, 1975.

Jack married Nancy Anderson on August 24th, 1974. They made their home in Grand Forks and raised two children Jessica and Justin. He was employed in construction with his father and brother for many years. He started working at the North Dakota State Mill on May 9th, 1980, and retired on July 23rd, 2010. He retired as a weigh master.

Jack was a caring, loving son, husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, coach, and super friend to so many. You could always count on Papa Jack for anything. He was the first to be called if anyone needed anything and the first to show up to help or fix things. Jack loved his lake families while spending summers at his cabin in Grace Lake. He loved the lake and seeing him there from early spring to late fall wasn’t unusual. He was a proud papa. He loved spoiling his only granddaughter Jozey. He loved watching her in all of her activities, especially watching her figure skating routines and competitions. He was an amazing dad and loved watching Sioux Hockey with his daughter and loved Vikings football games with his son.

Jack is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Nancy (Anderson) Bina; children, Jessica Bina of East Grand Forks, MN, and Justin Bina of Grand Forks, ND; one granddaughter, Jozey Bina of East Grand Forks, MN; one sister, Diane Vinesett of Fargo, ND; sisters in law, Marny (Bill) Pryatel and Linda (Curt) Kreun both of Grand Forks, ND; beloved Sheltie, Danny Boy and many nieces, nephews, cousins, lake families, and good friends, including his best friend Steve Murray (over 60 years of friendship).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Effie, siblings, Joannie and Daniel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to: Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

A Visitation will take place at Amundson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 5:00-6:30 pm. A Prayer Service will begin at 6:30pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Sharon Lutheran Church at 11:00am on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Visitation will continue on Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
