INTERNATIONAL FALLS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – The iconic Band Shell structure nestled within Smokey Bear Park in International Falls fell victim to a devastating blaze on Sunday afternoon, leaving the community in shock.

  1. Fire Engulfs Band Shell: Firefighters rushed to 214 6th Avenue following reports of smoke billowing from the Band Shell at 1:05 p.m. Upon arrival, crews encountered a scene of chaos as flames engulfed the structure, prompting an arduous battle against the inferno.
  2. Extent of Damage: Chief Adam Mannausau reported that the wood-framed structure, adorned with stucco on the outside walls and a rubber flat roof, suffered severe damage. The wood-framed shell portion, topped with a metal roof, was particularly affected by the blaze.
  3. Heroic Efforts: Despite facing intense conditions, firefighters labored tirelessly for five hours to quell the flames. However, the fire inflicted heavy structural damage, leaving the future of the beloved Band Shell uncertain.
