HIBBING (trfnews.i234.me) — A woman has died after suffering serious injuries in a garage fire in Hibbing on Thursday, April 9.

Emergency Response on Mesabi Drive

According to Hibbing Police, officers responded at about 3:35 p.m. to the 400 block of Mesabi Drive. When they arrived, they found the woman on fire inside a garage.

First responders quickly put out the flames and began medical care at the scene. The woman was then taken to Fairview Range for emergency treatment.

Officials said she was later airlifted to Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis. Authorities said she later died from her injuries.

Early Findings Released

In a statement, the Hibbing Police Department said early findings point to a self-inflicted act.

Police also said there is no evidence that any other person was involved. Investigators have not released the woman’s name.

Case Still Under Review

The case remains under investigation. Authorities said the incident will be reviewed by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said they were assisted by the Hibbing Fire Department and Hibbing Ambulance Service. More details may be released after the review is complete.

The police department also shared condolences with the woman’s family and loved ones. Officials described the case as a tragic event for the community.

At this time, no criminal involvement has been reported. The investigation is ongoing.
