Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me): Grass Fire Burns 15 Acres Near Thief River Falls
A grass fire burned an estimated 10 to 15 acres Friday afternoon in rural Pennington County, just outside Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
According to the Thief River Falls Fire Department, the blaze was reported around 4:15 p.m. near 17702 Center Street East at the home of Tim Raiter.
Officials say the fire likely started when burning leaves spread out of control due to strong winds.
The flames quickly moved through nearby grass and brush before firefighters arrived to contain the spread.
Multiple crews responded and remained on scene for about three hours to fully extinguish the flames and check for hot spots.
No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities remind residents that windy fall conditions can quickly turn controlled burns into dangerous wildfires.
Before burning debris, residents should check local burning restrictions through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
The incident serves as a reminder of how quickly fires can spread under dry and breezy weather conditions common this time of year.
