Prosecutors charged Jack Leonard Williams after a reported incident on February 7, 2026.
Court documents say the events happened in Granite Falls and along Highway 23.
What happened
Police were sent to Casey’s General Store at about 8:17 p.m., the complaint says.
Williams told officers a woman left him at the store, according to the filing.
He said he had been in Minneota to help repair a vehicle.
He said they argued while driving back toward Granite Falls.
What the police say
The woman told police she felt unsafe during the drive.
She said Williams made violent threats during the argument.
She said he threatened to cut off her head, the complaint alleges.
She said he also mentioned eating it with a fork.
She also reported a threat to beat her, the filing says.
Police later upgraded the call to a reported assault, the complaint states.
Officers also searched Williams’ backpack, according to the complaint.
They reported finding a battery and five socket sets.
The items were still in original packaging, the filing says.
Charges and court
Williams is charged with felony Threats of Violence.
He is also charged with felony Domestic Assault.
Court records show the case was filed on February 10, 2026.
Williams appeared in Yellow Medicine County District Court.
Judge Keith Helgeson set bail at $50,000 without conditions.
He set bail at $25,000 with conditions, court records show.
Williams remained in custody after the hearing.
The complaint also cites a 2020 felony no-contact violation in Isanti County.
Those prior cases were part of the bail review.
Charges are allegations and not proof of guilt.
Williams is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
