Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) — In Grand Forks, what began as a minor traffic stop quickly escalated into a significant drug bust on March 14th at 9:24 p.m., according to court documents. Authorities pulled over Joshua James Quam after he allegedly failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.

Once at the vehicle, officers detected several red flags: bloodshot eyes, heavy sweating, fast-talking, and a strong odor of marijuana. Based on these observations, officers initiated a search of Quam’s vehicle.

The search revealed 3.7 grams of methamphetamine and 2.12 grams of fentanyl. In a surprising turn, Quam admitted on the spot that he was involved in the distribution of meth and fentanyl.

Quam now faces two felony charges for possession with intent to deliver both methamphetamine and fentanyl, serious offenses under North Dakota law that could carry substantial penalties if convicted.

The arrest comes amid rising concerns in Cass County and surrounding areas about the proliferation of meth and fentanyl, substances linked to the ongoing opioid epidemic.
