Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me) – Just after midnight on Tuesday, chaos unfolded on I-29 at 32nd Avenue South in Grand Forks when Cole Reed of Thompson, North Dakota, crashed his vehicle while allegedly drunk and arguing with a male passenger.

According to court records, Reed’s vehicle struck the cable median barrier during the altercation. Both men fled the crash scene but were quickly detained by authorities. When asked by law enforcement how much alcohol he had consumed, Reed reportedly responded, “Honestly, I can’t tell you.”

A breathalyzer later revealed a blood alcohol concentration of .16, twice the legal limit in North Dakota.

Reed now faces a slew of charges, including:

  • Felony reckless endangerment

  • Misdemeanor DUI

  • Infraction for duty upon striking highway fixtures

Authorities say the incident could have ended much worse had other vehicles been involved.
