Frazee Man Charged in $653 Bad-Check Case

FRAZEE (trfnews.i234.me) — A Frazee man faces a felony charge involving nine alleged bad checks.

Ronald James Chasing Bear has been charged with issuing dishonored checks in Becker County District Court.

The complaint alleges the checks totaled $653.63. They were reportedly written between December 24, 2025, and January 2, 2026.

Chasing Bear is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Checks Reported at Two Frazee Businesses

According to the complaint, six checks were issued at the All N All gas station in Frazee.

The checks allegedly paid for fuel and other store items. Their reported amounts ranged from $39 to $97.92.

The six checks totaled $423.14, based on figures listed in the complaint.

Investigators received paperwork stating the checks came from a closed bank account.

The complaint says surveillance images showed Chasing Bear writing checks at the store’s cash register.

Three More Checks Alleged

Frazee Family Foods later reported three additional checks from the same closed account.

Those checks were reportedly written on December 24 and December 29.

The amounts were $150.49, $17.58, and $62.42. Together, they totaled $230.49.

The two businesses sent written payment demands to Chasing Bear’s listed address.

All N All sent its demand in February. Frazee Family Foods sent its demand in March.

Felony Charge Filed

Prosecutors allege Chasing Bear intended for the checks not to be paid.

The case was filed under Minnesota’s law covering the issuance of dishonored checks.

Under Minnesota Statute 609.535, checks worth more than $500 may bring felony penalties.

A conviction may carry up to five years in prison. It may also bring a fine of up to $10,000.

The case is listed as Becker County District Court file 03-CR-26-1094.
