Fort Totten Search For Jemini Posey Continues

Fort Totten (trfnews.i234.me) — A community-led search for missing Spirit Lake tribal member Jemini Posey continued over the weekend.

Posey has been missing since 2024. Her family and community members are still seeking answers.

The search was supported by the Spirit Lake Tribe. Volunteers, partner groups, and residents joined the effort.

Search teams focused on the Woodlake District, also known as Tokio. They also searched areas near Fort Totten.

Coordinated ground searches covered a large amount of land over two days. The effort included planned routes and volunteer support.

Volunteers Search Over Mother’s Day Weekend

About 36 volunteers helped with Saturday’s search. Another 20 volunteers joined on Sunday, May 10.

The search continued despite the Mother’s Day holiday weekend. Family members said the support showed Jemini remains loved and remembered.

The Minnesota Office of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives also assisted with coordination.

Representatives helped with planning, support, and organization during the search.

Items Reported For Review

During the search, teams found items and areas of interest. Those findings were reported for further review.

No confirmation has been made about those findings. Any evidence will go through the proper review process.

Chairwoman Lonna J. Street said the tribe remains focused on Jemini’s family.

“Our hearts remain with Jemini’s family, her loved ones, and especially her child,” Street said.

Street said the effort is about helping families know they are not alone. She said the tribe will keep using available resources.

“These are not just cases to us,” Street said. “These are our relatives, our community members, and our people.”

Family Says Search Will Continue

The search was started by Jemini’s sister, Jade Posey, and Jemini’s family.

Jade Posey thanked everyone who came out to pray, search, and support the family.

“We are not giving up on bringing my sister home,” Jade Posey said.

The tribe said the weekend search did not bring final answers. Still, it helped identify areas for follow-up.

The Spirit Lake Tribe is exploring more resources. Those may include professional search teams and future coordinated searches.
