GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Sunday afternoon turned chaotic as flames erupted in the garages of the Southwind apartments in Grand Forks. Only I News was on the scene to capture the intensity of the fire as it unfolded.

Battalion Chief Chris Carlson provided a detailed account of the incident, stating, “At approximately 4:06 p.m. today, Grand Forks Fire was dispatched to 2403 27th Avenue South, Southwind Apartments. When crews arrived, they found an 11-car garage engulfed in heavy fire and smoke emanating from multiple garages.”

Firefighters sprang into action, swiftly containing the blaze to half of the garage and preventing further spread. Despite the ferocity of the flames, the fire was fully extinguished within a short period, thanks to the coordinated efforts of emergency responders.

The Grand Forks Fire Department mobilized a formidable response team, deploying five engines, one truck, one command vehicle, and 17 personnel to the scene. Their rapid intervention ensured the safety of both the public and fire service personnel, with no reported injuries.

In a commendable display of collaboration, Grand Forks Fire worked alongside the Grand Forks Police, Altru Ambulance, and Elevate Living Property Management personnel to manage the aftermath of the incident. Together, they facilitated the retrieval of salvageable belongings for the apartment residents affected by the fire.
