The case began when the Todd County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a nurse at St. Cloud Hospital regarding a sexual assault that occurred near or in the City of Grey Eagle on July 24, 2023. The victim was a 15-year-old girl who had been sexually assaulted by Schrom. Investigator Josh Winter conducted an investigation and reviewed photographs from the teen’s father, which included text messages sent through Snapchat between the teenager and Schrom.

In one message, Schrom offered to pay for a Plan B pill if the victim was not on birth control. The girl had revealed the assault to another family member after her father learned of it on July 24. Schrom admitted to intercourse with the juvenile victim during a mirandized statement at Polk County Sheriff’s Office and was subsequently arrested and transported to the Todd County Detention Center. He has now been sentenced for his crimes, facing significant restrictions and treatment as part of his sentence.
