East Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) Daniel Caleb Demery faces two felony charges after a family fight in Polk County, Minnesota.

A criminal complaint says the case began around 3:01 a.m. on March 13, 2026. Officers responded to a report of an active fight at a home on Mars Drive.

Charges Filed In Polk County

According to the complaint, Demery is charged with domestic assault by strangulation and threats of violence.

The complaint was filed in Polk County District Court, which is part of Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.

Court records say the alleged victim, identified as Z.D., is Demery’s brother. The complaint says Z.D. was bleeding from the nose and struggling to breathe.

What The Complaint Says Happened

The complaint says the brothers had already fought earlier that night in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It says police there separated them and gave them a ride home.

Z.D. told police Demery was not allowed to stay at the home. He said he locked Demery out after they returned.

According to the complaint, Demery then kicked open the door and rushed inside. Z.D. said Demery threw him around and choked him twice.

The complaint also says Demery threatened to kill his brother during the fight. Z.D. said he could barely breathe and had to kick Demery away.

Arrest And Detention

Authorities arrested Demery at the scene, according to the complaint. The filing says he later yelled and thrashed in a squad car.

The complaint says he was being prepared for transport to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center. It also says officers used a padded helmet to stop self-injury.

Demery’s listed address is 126 Mars Drive in East Grand Forks. His date of birth is listed as Aug. 9, 2005.

Charges are allegations, not convictions. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
