Detroit Lakes (trfnews.i234.me) — A Detroit Lakes woman is facing charges in Becker County District Court.

Deborah Lee Collins, 43, is accused of giving another person’s name and date of birth during a traffic stop.

The case was filed in Minnesota’s 7th Judicial District under court file 03-CR-26-712.

Charges Filed In Becker County

According to the complaint, Collins is charged with giving a peace officer a false name.

That charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 609.506.

She is also charged with using a false name and date of birth to identify herself to police.

That charge falls under Minnesota Statute 171.22.

Collins also faces a misdemeanor charge of driving after suspension.

The complaint says that charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 171.24.

Traffic Stop Led To Review

The complaint says the case began on February 2, 2026.

A gold 2006 Ford was stopped in Becker County for an expired registration tag.

The driver allegedly gave a license belonging to Lisa Marie Haugen.

The complaint says the license was expired.

The driver allegedly said she had lost her newer license.

She also said she was trying to get a replacement.

Authorities said the license information came back valid with no alerts.

The vehicle was released with a warning.

Identity Question Raised Later

The complaint says another law enforcement contact later raised questions about the stop.

Authorities spoke with Lisa Marie Haugen after reviewing the February traffic stop.

Haugen allegedly said she was not driving the vehicle that day.

She also said Collins had previously possessed her expired driver’s license.

Haugen said the license was supposed to be destroyed.

Investigators then reviewed body camera video from the traffic stop.

The complaint says the driver was identified as Collins after that review.

Authorities also noted that Collins may use the name Deborah Monson.

Suspended License Alleged

The complaint says the vehicle was registered to Steven Collins.

Authorities also checked Collins’ driving record.

The complaint says her driving status was suspended at the time.

It also says she had an active warrant during the traffic stop.

The gross misdemeanor charges each carry a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.

Each also carries a possible $3,000 fine.

The driving after suspension charge carries up to 90 days in jail.

It also carries a possible $1,000 fine.

A complaint is not a conviction.

Collins is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
