Crookston Man Charged In Walmart Theft Case
Crookston (trfnews.i234.me) – A Crookston man is facing a gross misdemeanor theft charge after two reported incidents at Walmart.
According to a complaint filed in Polk County District Court, Isaac Manuel Lopez, 42, of Crookston, is charged with gross misdemeanor theft.
The charge was filed in Minnesota’s 9th Judicial District under court file number 60-CR-26-542.
The complaint says the alleged thefts happened between November 21 and November 26, 2025.
Authorities say the total value of the merchandise was $984.21, not including sales tax.
Complaint Details
According to the complaint, Walmart Asset Protection reported an attempted theft on November 24, 2025.
The report involved an incident that allegedly happened on November 21, 2025.
Investigators say a man left the Crookston Walmart without paying for $576.86 in merchandise.
The complaint says the man passed all points of sale before being stopped by Asset Protection.
The items were recovered, according to court documents.
The complaint says the man did not provide his name at that time.
Second Reported Incident
On November 26, 2025, Walmart Asset Protection contacted police again.
Asset Protection reported that the same man had just left the store after another alleged theft.
The complaint says the man left with $473.09 in merchandise.
Authorities say he passed all points of sale and exited the store.
Police later learned that a person matching the description was taken from Walmart to the Crookston Public Library.
An officer located the person at the library.
According to the complaint, he was identified by a Minnesota identification card as Isaac Manuel Lopez.
Authorities say merchandise from Walmart was found outside the library.
The complaint says Lopez later admitted to both reported incidents.
All merchandise was recovered and returned to Walmart, according to court documents.
Charge And Possible Penalty
Lopez is charged under the Minnesota theft law.
The complaint cites Minnesota Statute 609.52.
A gross misdemeanor theft charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail.
It can also carry a $3,000 fine, or both.
The case is filed in Polk County District Court.
A criminal complaint is not a conviction.
Lopez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
