Crookston Man Charged in Child Sex Case

Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Climax man is facing felony charges after prosecutors filed a criminal complaint involving allegations of sexual conduct with a 16-year-old girl.

Dylan Tyler Johnson, 26, of Climax, Minnesota, has been charged in Polk County District Court with third-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is also charged with furnishing alcohol to a person under 21.

Charges Filed in Polk County Court

The complaint states the alleged incident happened on July 3, 2026, in Crookston, Minnesota.

Johnson faces a felony charge of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree. The charge carries a possible sentence of up to 15 years in prison, a $30,000 fine, or both.

He also faces a gross misdemeanor charge for allegedly providing alcohol to someone under the age of 21. That charge carries possible penalties of up to 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.

Complaint Details Alleged

According to the criminal complaint, family members reported concerns after checking on a backyard bonfire late at night.

The complaint alleges Johnson and the 16-year-old girl were located inside a nearby building during the incident.

The document states the girl was found to be intoxicated. Investigators allege Johnson provided alcohol before the reported sexual activity.

The complaint also states Johnson and the girl were related and had a significant relationship.

Authorities say the girl later confirmed that Johnson gave her alcohol.

Court Case Moves Forward

The allegations are contained in a criminal complaint filed in Polk County District Court. A criminal complaint is not a finding of guilt.

Johnson remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
