The call came from the 400 block of Eighth Avenue North.

Officers arrived and found a man with an apparent stab wound. Emergency crews immediately began life-saving efforts.

The man died at the scene despite those efforts. Authorities have not released his name.

Another Man Taken Into Custody

Police said another man was inside the residence when officers arrived. Authorities took him into custody without reporting further trouble.

The man was later booked into the Stearns County Jail. He remained held while prosecutors considered possible formal charges.

Authorities have not released the detained man’s name. They also have not announced any criminal charges.

A jail booking does not establish guilt. Any person charged is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Officials also have not said how the two men knew each other. No other injuries were reported in the initial statement.

The residence remained part of an active investigation after the arrest. Police may release more details as evidence is reviewed.

Detectives may interview witnesses and review physical evidence from the home. Those steps can help establish a timeline.

Authorities have not said whether a weapon was recovered. They also have not described the events leading to the assault.

Residents can visit the Cold Spring Police Department website for agency information.

Current adult custody records are available through the Stearns County Jail roster.

Anyone with direct information should contact law enforcement. Call 911 when there is an immediate threat or emergency.

The case remains under investigation. Prosecutors will review the evidence before making formal charging decisions.
