Clearbrook Man Charged In Fake Cash Case
Clearbrook (trfnews.i234.me) — A Clearbrook man is facing a felony counterfeiting charge in Clearwater County District Court.
Brett Garrett Kimball is charged with counterfeiting of currency by uttering or possessing counterfeit money. The case is filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District under court file 15-CR-25-508.
Fake Bills Reported At Gas Station
According to the complaint, the case began after a report from Y92 gas station in Clearbrook.
A person allegedly tried to use four $100 bills at the business on October 1, 2025. The bills were later found to be invalid.
Investigators later searched a Clearbrook residence. Court documents say the person told authorities the bills came from his brother, Brett Kimball.
More Bills Found During Search
During the search, investigators reported finding more bills in Kimball’s bedroom.
The complaint says the bills included six $100 bills, two $50 bills, two $20 bills, and one $5 bill. Court documents state the bills displayed “FOR MOTION PICTURE PURPOSES.”
Authorities also received another report on October 5, 2025. A person said he sold a three-wheeler to Kimball and received $125 in cash.
That person later learned the money was counterfeit, according to the complaint.
Felony Charge Filed
The complaint lists the total face value of the alleged counterfeit money at $1,270.
Kimball is charged under Minnesota Statute 609.632. The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
Case information can also be reviewed through Minnesota Court Records Online.
A criminal complaint is only an allegation. Kimball is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
