Mahnomen: Gonzalez Accused of Death Threats
MAHNOMEN, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Alan Joseph Gonzalez (Burnette) Jr. faces three criminal charges following an Aug. 29 incident in Mahnomen.
Gonzalez, 41, is charged in Mahnomen County District Court.
The case is filed as 44-CR-26-500.
The charges include felony threats of violence and gross misdemeanor obstruction.
He also faces a misdemeanor property-damage charge.
Probation Check Leads to Police Contact
The criminal complaint says a probation officer requested a welfare and alcohol check on Gonzalez.
GPS information allegedly showed him near the Wild Rice Lounge for about 25 minutes.
The Wild Rice Lounge is located in Mahnomen.
An officer later contacted Gonzalez at Bruggeman’s grocery store, according to the complaint.
Police reported red and watery eyes and an odor of alcohol.
The complaint says Gonzalez admitted he had relapsed.
He allegedly became upset when officers attempted to detain him.
Police allege Gonzalez refused commands and appeared ready to swing a fist.
He eventually went to the ground and was handcuffed.
Death Threats Alleged
While being transported, Gonzalez allegedly made several threats toward law enforcement.
The complaint says he threatened to kill officers after his release.
He also allegedly made threatening remarks involving their families.
Prosecutors charged Gonzalez with threats of violence under Minnesota Statute 609.713, subdivision 1.
The felony carries up to five years in prison.
It also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.

Obstruction and Property Damage Charges
Gonzalez also faces a gross misdemeanor obstruction charge.
Prosecutors allege he resisted or interfered with an officer while threatening force.
That count carries up to 364 days in jail.
It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.
At the sheriff’s office, Gonzalez allegedly damaged items inside a holding cell.
The complaint says he damaged a mattress and covered the cell camera.
He also allegedly broke his ankle monitor against fixtures inside the cell.
Prosecutors charged him with fourth-degree criminal damage to property.
The misdemeanor carries up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Case Remains Pending
The complaint contains allegations that have not been proven in court.
Gonzalez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
