Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
According to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court, Robert Shane Langford, 42, of Blackduck, is charged with driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety.
The charge stems from an incident reported on May 29, 2026, in Beltrami County.
Court documents state that a black Dodge truck was stopped on Highway 72. The vehicle reportedly did not have license plates.
During the traffic stop, the driver identified himself as Robert Shane Langford.
Authorities say Langford told investigators that Crow Wing County law enforcement had taken the vehicle plates.
The complaint states that Langford said the plates were removed because he was driving after his license had been canceled.

License Status Listed As Canceled
A records check reportedly showed Langford’s Minnesota driving status remained canceled as inimical to public safety.
The complaint states Langford had notice or reason to know about the cancellation.
He was arrested and taken to the Beltrami County Jail following the traffic stop.
The charge against Langford is a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 171.24.5.
If convicted, the offense carries a possible maximum penalty of up to 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.
