Bemidji Man Charged in Fentanyl Possession Case

Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Redby man is facing a felony drug charge after authorities say he was found with suspected fentanyl in Bemidji.

Felony Drug Charge Filed

Roy Andrew Cloud, 28, of Redby, Minnesota, has been charged in Beltrami County District Court.

The charge is fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

The case involves a substance identified as fentanyl, according to the criminal complaint.

The charge was filed under Minnesota law as a felony offense.

If convicted, the charge carries a possible sentence of up to five years in prison.

It may also include a fine of up to $10,000, or both.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

Police Respond to Bemidji Report

The call came from a location on Paul Bunyan Drive NW in Bemidji.

Authorities were called after a report of an unresponsive male in a bathroom.

Officials said they found Cloud sitting on a toilet.

The complaint states he was slumped over with his head between his knees.

Cloud was assisted and later identified himself to the authorities.

Investigators reported finding a lighter and a folded paper bindle nearby.

The item was collected as evidence.

Authorities later reported finding additional paper bindles and tinfoil pieces.

The complaint states the suspected substances weighed approximately .58 grams and 1.32 grams with packaging.

Field testing reportedly showed a positive indication for fentanyl.

Previous Court History Listed

The complaint also lists several previous convictions in Beltrami County court records.

Those records include prior convictions involving theft, controlled substance possession, false information to an officer, obstruction, robbery, and vehicle theft.
