What Investigators Say Happened
Troopers said a 2009 Harley-Davidson was traveling north on 119th Street Northeast. The driver failed to make it through a curve, and the motorcycle left the road.
It then returned to the roadway before overturning. The motorcycle slid into a ditch after it tipped over.
The 64-year-old driver, who lived in Bismarck, died at the scene. The 29-year-old female passenger, also from Bismarck, suffered serious injuries. Authorities described her injuries as not life-threatening.
Medical crews took her to CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck for care. The patrol did not provide further details about her medical condition.

Road and Weather Conditions
Road conditions were dry when the crash occurred. The weather was clear, according to the patrol’s October 24 news release.
The report listed only one motorcycle and did not identify any other vehicles.
Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a helmet, the patrol said. Officials did not say whether helmet use affected the outcome.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
