Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji woman is now facing a felony charge after prosecutors say she failed to return to the Beltrami County Jail after a medical furlough.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota District Court, Larrissa Jean White, 33, was charged with escape from custody. The charge is a felony under Minnesota Statute 609.485. The maximum penalty is five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.

What The Complaint Says

The complaint says White was in custody on a prior felony conviction for first-degree DWI. On March 31, 2026, she was released from jail on a furlough for what was described as same-day surgery. The order required her to return to jail right after the procedure ended.

Prosecutors say White did not return as ordered. Authorities later learned she had arranged a ride with Marie Spears. The complaint says Spears took White to her home in Cass Lake, where she lived with Keevin Whitefeather.

According to the complaint, White told Spears that jail would not be a good place for recovery. Deputies later went to the Cass Lake home, but no one answered the door. The complaint also says the windows were covered.

Taken Back Into Custody

Authorities say White was found on April 7, 2026. She was then taken into custody and returned to the Beltrami County Jail the same day.

The listed offense date in the complaint spans from March 31, 2026, through April 7, 2026. Court records show the case was filed in Beltrami County under court file number 04-CR-26-813.

Prior Record Listed In Complaint

The complaint also lists several past convictions in Minnesota. Those entries include prior DWI convictions, a burglary conviction, a drug conviction, and several driving-related offenses. Those past cases are part of the court record cited in the filing.

This new case focuses on one count of escape from custody. Prosecutors allege White left lawful custody and failed to return after the furlough ended. The charge remains an allegation unless it is proven in court.

White is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. A future court appearance is expected in Beltrami County.
