Bemidji Ulta Theft Leads to Felony Charge

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Cass Lake woman faces a felony theft charge following an alleged shoplifting incident at Ulta Beauty.

Nicole Ashley Goose is charged with theft of property valued between $1,000 and $5,000.

Prosecutors allege Goose and Jeffrey Allen Goose left the Bemidji store with $1,503.89 in unpaid merchandise.

The alleged theft happened during the evening of May 8, 2026.

Employees Report Items Being Concealed

According to the criminal complaint, Bemidji police received a theft report around 7:40 p.m.

A store employee reported seeing a man and woman concealing merchandise inside personal bags.

Police waited outside the store until two people matching the description came outside.

The woman was identified as Nicole Ashley Goose.

The man was identified as Jeffrey Allen Goose, according to the complaint.

Nicole Goose initially denied taking merchandise and asked to see the surveillance video.

Authorities then escorted both people back into Ulta Beauty.

More Than $1,500 in Merchandise Recovered

Once inside, authorities asked them to remove any unpaid merchandise from their bags.

The complaint says both complied and turned over the merchandise.

Store employees scanned the recovered products to determine their total retail value.

The merchandise was valued at $1,503.89, according to court records.

Prosecutors allege the property was taken without permission and with intent to permanently deprive the store.

The complaint does not list a separate charge against Jeffrey Goose in this case.

Felony Theft Charge Filed

Nicole Goose now faces one felony theft count in Beltrami County District Court.

The complaint lists a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

It also lists a possible fine of up to $10,000.

Under Minnesota law, theft exceeding $1,000 can carry the felony penalty listed in the complaint.
