Bemidji Man Charged In Walmart Burglary Case
Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man is facing a gross misdemeanor burglary charge after an alleged shoplifting incident at Walmart.
Jonathon Tyler Cloud, 34, has been charged in Beltrami County District Court. The court file number is 04-CR-26-1037.
The charge is fourth-degree burglary. It was filed under Minnesota Statute 609.582.
According to the complaint, the incident happened around 10:56 p.m. on March 13, 2026.
Complaint Details
Police were called to Walmart for a report of a man hiding items in the store. The complaint says the man had left the store before officers arrived.
An officer later found Cloud walking behind the store. The officer knew Cloud and stopped to speak with him.
According to the complaint, Cloud said he knew why police were there. He also said he no longer had store items on him.
Cloud told the officer the merchandise had been recovered by the store.
Cloud then agreed to return to Walmart. The complaint says store staff planned to issue another trespass notice.
Surveillance Video Cited
Inside the store’s asset protection office, police saw a package of shirts on a counter.
The complaint says store surveillance video showed Cloud placing the same package of shirts into his pants.
Police also received a copy of a lifetime trespass notice. The complaint says it had been issued to Cloud in August 2025.
Prosecutors allege Cloud entered a public building with the intent to steal. They also allege this happened within one year of being told not to return.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail. It also carries a possible $3,000 fine, or both.
