Bemidji Man Charged In Stolen Gun Case

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man is facing multiple charges after a stolen handgun was allegedly found on him.

Isaiah Andrew Bimberg, 29, of Bemidji, is charged in Beltrami County District Court.

The case was filed in Minnesota’s 9th Judicial District under court file 04-CR-26-1294.

According to the criminal complaint, the case began on June 2, 2026.

Bemidji police received a report about a stolen firearm at about 7:07 p.m.

The victim told officers Bimberg had visited his home earlier that day.

The victim alleged Bimberg took a 9mm Taurus G3 semi-automatic pistol.

Charges Filed In Beltrami County

Bimberg is charged with felony theft of a firearm.

That charge carries a possible sentence of 20 years in prison.

It also carries a possible $100,000 fine, or both.

The complaint also charges Bimberg with unlawful firearm or ammunition possession.

That charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor.

He is also charged with fleeing a peace officer on foot.

That charge is listed as a misdemeanor.

Complaint Details Arrest

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Bimberg’s residence and person.

The complaint says the victim showed officers text messages involving Bimberg.

Those messages allegedly indicated Bimberg had the firearm.

On June 3, officers saw a man matching Bimberg’s description.

He was leaving a residence connected to him, according to the complaint.

When officers tried to stop him, Bimberg allegedly fled on foot.

The complaint says he later surrendered to several officers in the area.

After he was secured, officers allegedly found the stolen handgun on him.

The firearm was loaded with a full magazine.

The complaint says a live round was also in the chamber.

Court Records Cite Prior Convictions

The complaint also lists several prior convictions from Minnesota court records.

Those include DWI, giving a false name, burglary, and drug convictions.

Court records say the burglary conviction was a felony case from 2017.

A criminal complaint is not a conviction.

Bimberg is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
