Bemidji Man Charged in Roof Entry Burglary Case

Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man is facing a felony burglary charge after authorities say he entered a building without permission and caused major damage.

Kurtis Lee Goossen, 47, of Bemidji, is charged with third-degree burglary in Beltrami County District Court. The charge is based on an alleged incident that happened on July 5, 2026.

Burglary Investigation Begins

According to court documents, authorities investigated a reported burglary at a building located on 116 4th Street NW in Bemidji.

The business owner reported that someone had broken into the building. The owner also reported significant damage inside the property.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the building. The video allegedly showed a person inside the building damaging property and eating food.

Authorities said the person appeared to enter through the roof area. The suspected entry route involved climbing across several buildings.

Several rooftop appliances were also reported damaged during the incident.

Suspect Identified

Court records state that officers later located a man matching the surveillance footage description outside the building.

The man was identified as Kurtis Lee Goossen. Court documents state that Goossen told authorities he wanted to turn himself in.

According to the complaint, Goossen said he was “chasing love” and admitted to climbing buildings and damaging property.
