Bemidji Man Charged After Motorcycle Stop

Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man is facing several charges after a traffic stop involving a motorcycle revealed revoked plates, expired registration, and no insurance, according to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court.

Wallace Owen Arthur, 71, of Bemidji, is charged with gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation, along with several misdemeanor vehicle-related offenses.

Traffic Stop Leads To Multiple Charges

The charges stem from a June 25, 2026, traffic stop in Beltrami County. Court documents state a black Yamaha XV700 motorcycle was observed traveling near Carr Lake Road SE and Washington Avenue.

The motorcycle displayed a registration sticker that appeared expired. A records check showed the registration had actually expired in February 2016. The license plates were also listed as revoked.

During the stop, authorities identified the driver as Wallace Owen Arthur. According to the complaint, Arthur told authorities he knew the registration was expired.

The complaint states Arthur also admitted he did not have a valid driver’s license. He also said the motorcycle did not have insurance coverage.

Charges Filed In Beltrami County Court

Arthur faces one gross misdemeanor charge for driving after his license was cancelled as inimical to public safety.

He also faces misdemeanor charges involving revoked registration plates, displaying another person’s plates, operating an uninsured vehicle, and driving with expired registration.

The complaint states that Arthur had notice that his driving privileges were cancelled. The document also alleges the motorcycle displayed a registration sticker that appeared altered.

Investigators reported the sticker had been cut to fit the plate. They also reported it lacked the proper sticker number, which indicated it may have been placed fraudulently.

Court Proceedings

The case was filed in Beltrami County District Court. The charges are allegations, and Arthur is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
