Bemidji Firefighters Battle Dual Wildfires, Structures Devastated

BEMIDJI, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Bemidji’s brave firefighters sprang into action on Friday afternoon, responding to not one, but two wildfires wreaking havoc northeast and east of the city.

  1. Birchmont Beach Road Blaze: At 1:30 PM, firefighters rushed to Birchmont Beach Road, where they encountered a raging inferno fueled by strong winds. A barn-type structure and multiple vehicles succumbed to the flames, while two residential structures faced imminent danger. After a grueling three-hour battle involving 36 firefighters, the barn and its contents were reduced to ashes.
  2. Elliot Road Inferno: Simultaneously, firefighters raced to Elliot Road, nine miles east of Bemidji, where another wildfire had erupted. The blaze swiftly engulfed a trailer, a temporary structure, and other items. Despite the valiant efforts of 31 firefighters over the course of an hour, the trailer and surrounding structures were lost to the flames. Miraculously, no injuries were reported at either site.

These devastating wildfires serve as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of fire and the unwavering bravery of Bemidji’s firefighting heroes.
