Beltrami County Man Held on Wisconsin Warrant

BELTRAMI COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A Wisconsin man faces a felony fugitive charge in northern Minnesota.

Michael Kenneth Rainey, 37, of Cumberland, Wisconsin, was charged in Beltrami County District Court.

The complaint alleges Rainey was wanted under an active felony warrant from Wisconsin.

The Minnesota charge is listed as being a fugitive from justice from another state.

A criminal complaint contains allegations. Rainey remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Wisconsin Warrant Issued

The Barron County Circuit Court issued the arrest warrant on May 19, 2026.

The warrant followed Rainey’s alleged failure to attend a plea hearing on May 15.

The Wisconsin case includes several driving-related allegations.

They include a fifth or sixth felony operating while intoxicated charge.

Other allegations include operating after revocation and violating ignition interlock requirements.

He was being held on separate local charges at that time.

A records check then showed the outstanding Wisconsin warrant.

Minnesota prosecutors filed the fugitive complaint under Minnesota Statute 629.13.

The law covers people arrested in Minnesota under warrants issued by other states.

The listed penalty is surrender to the state seeking the defendant’s return.

That process is often called extradition or rendition.

Wisconsin authorities may seek Rainey’s return through the interstate court process.
