Audubon Strangulation Case Leads To Charge
Audubon (trfnews.i234.me) — A Prior Lake man is facing a felony charge in Becker County District Court after a reported domestic assault in Audubon.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Becker County, Shawn Robert Tucker, born March 27, 2002, is charged with domestic assault by strangulation.
The charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 609.2247. The offense is a felony.
If convicted, Tucker could face up to three years in prison. He could also face a $5,000 fine, or both.
911 Call Reported From Audubon Home
The complaint states the case began on May 14, 2026. A 911 caller reported she was pregnant and had been choked by her husband.
Law enforcement responded to a residence in Audubon, in Becker County.
The woman told authorities she had been trying to put one of her children to bed. She said the child was not cooperating.
According to the complaint, Tucker accused her of dragging the child. He then allegedly grabbed her by the neck.
The woman said the contact made it hard for her to breathe.

Juvenile Witness Reported Assault
A juvenile foster child was also present, according to the complaint.
The juvenile told authorities Tucker had yelled at the woman earlier that day. The juvenile also reported seeing Tucker grab her neck from behind.
The complaint states the juvenile physically stepped in to stop the alleged assault.
After the incident, the woman continued trying to put the children to bed. Authorities say Tucker allegedly began yelling again.
The complaint says Tucker followed the woman into the kitchen. He then allegedly grabbed her by the hair and pulled it.
The woman reported she threw a bowl of soup over her shoulder to make him stop.
Complaint Notes Visible Injuries
Authorities reported seeing red marks on the woman’s chest and chin. They also noted a bruise on her upper left arm.
The complaint also describes prior abuse claims from April. The woman said those incidents happened during a family trip to Florida.
She told authorities she did not call the police at that time. However, she had photos from the alleged incident.
According to the complaint, the photos showed the woman with two swollen black eyes. Authorities also documented what appeared to be remaining bruising in May.
The complaint says Tucker later admitted to law enforcement that he grabbed the woman’s neck and hair.
The case is filed in Becker County District Court. The court file number is 03-CR-26-984.
A criminal complaint is not a conviction. Tucker is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
