Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – On October 19, at approximately 8:24 p.m., law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop on First Street West. David Alan Jourdain, a 42-year-old resident of Thief River Falls, was subsequently charged with several offenses.
According to the complaint filed against him, the Officer observed Mr. Jourdain operating his vehicle despite having had his driving privileges revoked due to being deemed inimical to public safety. The officer noted that Mr. Jourdain exhibited bloodshot eyes and appeared evasive when questioned about his activities. A butane torch light was also found near the cup holder beside the driver’s seat.
During questioning, Mr. Jourdain allegedly admitted to using methamphetamine on multiple occasions in the past week. He claimed to have been prescribed gabapentin and morphine, although he could not provide proof of these prescriptions. Field sobriety tests were administered, which Mr. Jourdain failed. A preliminary breath test yielded a blood alcohol content of 0.00.
Mr. Jourdain consented to the search of his vehicle, during which police allegedly discovered liquid that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as other drug paraphernalia and prescription medications in various locations within the vehicle. Mr. Jourdain claimed ownership of some items but denied knowledge of others. He was subsequently taken into custody.
A urine sample was collected from Mr. Jourdain, which was sent to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing. The results are pending at this time. Charges against him include driving after cancellation – inimical to public safety, second-degree driving while impaired – controlled substance, gross misdemeanor fifth-degree controlled substance crime, and misdemeanor possession of a legend drug.
