Fargo, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) — Firefighters battled a structure fire Sunday afternoon at a vacant rental property in Fargo.
The fire was reported at about 3:38 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2026. Crews were sent to 910 4th Avenue South.
According to the Fargo Fire Department, heavy smoke was visible when crews arrived.
Smoke was coming from the second floor of the home. Firefighters also saw smoke coming from the porch roof.
The conditions prompted fire officials to call for a second alarm. That brought additional crews and equipment to the scene.
Vacant Home Had No Occupants
The rental property was vacant when the fire started. Officials said no people or pets were inside the building.
Fire crews entered the property and worked to bring the flames under control.
The department said firefighters extinguished the fire about 20 minutes after the first crews arrived.
No injuries were reported in information released by the department.
Significant Damage Reported
The residence suffered significant fire and smoke damage. Officials have not released an estimated cost for the damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Fargo Fire Department responded with five engines and one ladder truck. Two command vehicles also responded to the scene.
The Fargo Police Department assisted firefighters during the response.
Sanford Ambulance and the Salvation Army also provided assistance at the scene.
Investigation Continues
Fire officials have not announced what may have started the fire. No damage estimate was available following the response.
The investigation will focus on determining where the fire began and what caused it.
The Fargo Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency response services throughout the city.
