FERGUS FALLS, Minn.(trfnews.i234.me)  – The Minnesota State Patrol responded to a semi-truck fire on eastbound I-94 near Fergus Falls late Tuesday morning.

The semi, carrying hay bales, caught fire, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

The driver, 64-year-old Gerald Bergen of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, was outside attending to the load when a trailer tire blew out, causing injury.

Bergen was transported to Lake Region Healthcare before being transferred to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

His condition remains unknown.

Traffic on I-94 was impacted for approximately four hours due to the fire. Local fire departments, including Fergus Falls and Elizabeth, along with the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office and MnDOT, assisted in the incident response.
