NDSU Soccer Falls at Minnesota 1-0

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Golden Gophers scored an early second-half goal to defeat North Dakota State soccer 1-0 Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

The Bison (3-4-2) had the early momentum and nearly took the lead on a Tyreese Zacher header off the crossbar on a corner kick. However, NDSU was unable to capitalize on the early opportunities. Payton Mulberry would make two saves to cap a scoreless first half.

Minnesota (7-0-1) would take the lead early in the second half after the restart, as Khyah Harper headed in a cross from close range at the back post.

The Bison would have a pair of chances from Devon Kavanagh stopped in the second half and also saw a shot from Morgan Russmann go wide, as NDSU was unable to find an equalizer.

NDSU finished with five total shots in the game. Mulberry finished with five saves on six shots on goal from Minnesota.

The Bison will return home to Dacotah Field for the non-conference finale, as NDSU welcomes in Saint Ambrose on Friday, September 20. The Bison are set to kick off at 6 p.m. on Family and Homecoming Weekend, with Senior Night festivities after the game.
