Detroit Lakes Man Faces Two Driving Charges

DETROIT LAKES (trfnews.i234.me) — A Detroit Lakes man faces two charges following a June traffic stop in Becker County.

Brian Keith Krueger, 55, is charged in Becker County District Court. The complaint lists one gross misdemeanor and one misdemeanor.

The charges are allegations. Krueger is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Traffic Stop On Highway 34

The complaint says a deputy was traveling on State Highway 34 on June 11, 2026.

The deputy reportedly noticed a vehicle with a passenger-side headlight that was not working.

The vehicle was also recognized from earlier contacts, according to the complaint.

A traffic stop was then conducted. The deputy reportedly found that the vehicle registration had expired.

Krueger was identified as the driver. He provided a driver’s license during the stop.

However, the complaint says he could not provide proof of vehicle insurance.

A records check reportedly showed that Krueger’s driving privileges were revoked.

He is charged with driving after revocation under Minnesota law.

The misdemeanor charge carries a possible sentence of 90 days in jail.

It also carries a possible $1,000 fine. A judge could impose both penalties.

Krueger also faces a gross misdemeanor charge for failing to carry proof of insurance.

Prosecutors allege he had two earlier insurance-related convictions within the past ten years.

The complaint identifies those cases as Becker County files 03-CR-23-1865 and 03-CR-23-214.

The gross misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.

It also carries a possible fine of up to $3,000.

The insurance statute is available through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.

The new case was filed under Becker County court file 03-CR-26-1292.

Future hearings and court rulings will determine how the case proceeds.
