Pelican Rapids Woman Charged Over Vehicle Registration

Otter Tail County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Pelican Rapids woman is facing charges after prosecutors say she operated a vehicle that was not properly registered.

Vehicle Registration Charges Filed

Naomi Kreig Marti, 47, of Pelican Rapids, is charged in Otter Tail County District Court.

Court records show Marti faces a gross misdemeanor charge for allegedly failing to update the registration on a 2024 GMC Sierra.

She also faces a misdemeanor charge for allegedly operating an unregistered vehicle on public roads.

The charges are connected to events reported between January 1, 2023, and May 18, 2026.

Investigation Begins During Domestic Call

According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement responded to a reported domestic disturbance on May 18, 2026.

The call was at a residence on Bass Harbor Trail in Otter Tail County.

During the investigation, officers contacted Marti while she was driving a 2024 GMC Sierra.

The complaint states the vehicle displayed a plate marked “Exempt Private Property” with the number AQUA-AZ.

The plate also included wording about private travel and non-commercial use.

Investigators said the vehicle had only received temporary registration from the dealership in 2023.

They determined the vehicle had not been properly registered after that temporary period ended.

Daily Driving Reported

The complaint states Marti acknowledged driving the pickup regularly.

She reportedly said she drove it every school day to a bus stop in Dunvilla.

Investigators also reported receiving a previous letter from Marti regarding the vehicle.

The complaint says the letter requested that the truck be placed on a “do not stop, do not detain” list.

Court Case Pending

The gross misdemeanor charge carries a possible maximum penalty of up to 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.

The misdemeanor charge carries a possible maximum penalty of up to 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both.

All charges are allegations, and Marti is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
