Red Lake Falls Calls Include Injury and Scam
RED LAKE COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — Deputies handled several public service calls from July 4 through July 9.
The reports included park disputes, a missing watch, an injury, a parking issue, and an online scam.
Holiday Weekend Calls
On July 4, the sheriff’s office received a report about a man sitting beside Highway 59.
The man was south of Plummer and appeared to be hitchhiking.
A deputy contacted him and provided a ride to another location.
Later that afternoon, a deputy spoke with people involved in a child custody dispute.
The deputy counseled both sides and helped mediate the disagreement.
That evening, someone reported losing an Apple Smart Watch at Voyageur’s View.
A deputy helped search the area, but the watch was not found.
Anyone who finds the watch should contact the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies also responded to a disturbance at Sportsman’s Park in Red Lake Falls.
Several people had been involved in a verbal argument.
Deputies found no crime and counseled those involved.
One person received a ride elsewhere because that person was not registered to camp there.
Park Noise and Parking Complaint
Shortly after midnight on July 5, deputies returned to Sportsman’s Park for a noise complaint.
People at two campsites were playing loud music.
They agreed to turn off the music, and no further action was needed.
On July 6, the sheriff’s office received a parking complaint in Red Lake Falls.
A trailer was reportedly parked in violation of a city ordinance.
A deputy contacted the owner, who agreed to move the trailer from the street.
Bike Path Injury
Early on July 7, emergency crews responded near Wright’s Consignment Store in Red Lake Falls.
A woman had fallen on the bike path and suffered a broken arm.
Red Lake Falls Ambulance transported her to Sanford Health in Thief River Falls.
Scam Report Remains Under Investigation
On July 9, a Red Lake County resident reported being targeted in an online scam.
The case remained under investigation when the weekly report was issued.
The Federal Trade Commission provides scam prevention and reporting information.
No arrests or criminal charges were reported in the other listed calls.
