Red Lake Falls Child Calls, Fire Mark Busy Week

RED LAKE COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — Deputies handled several public safety calls from July 17 through July 23. The reports included child safety concerns, a vehicle fire, storm damage, and a building crash.

Child Safety Calls Prompt Response

A Red Lake Falls resident reported an unsupervised young child in a yard on July 17. A deputy found the child and located the parents. The family was reunited, and the parents received guidance.

Deputies answered a disturbance call at a Garnes Township home on July 18. Investigators found no evidence that a crime occurred. The involved people received guidance. One person agreed to leave the home for the day.

Two small children wandered from a Red Lake Falls home on July 19. Their parent found them before a deputy arrived. One child reached another home without supervision the next morning.

A deputy returned the child and discussed safety steps with the parent. The case was referred to Red Lake County Social Services.

Crash, Storm Damage and Vehicle Fire

A vehicle struck the Dollar General building in Red Lake Falls on July 20. The sheriff’s office released no details about injuries or building damage.

Later that day, a tree fell onto a powerline in Terrebonne Township. The caller reported that the line was smoking. A deputy secured the area. Red Lake Electric Cooperative crews were contacted. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Deputies also mediated a harassment complaint in Red Lake Falls on July 21. The involved people received advice. The matter ended without a reported arrest.

Emergency crews responded to a vehicle fire north of Red Lake Falls on July 22. The fire happened along Minnesota Highway 32. The vehicle was destroyed, but the occupant escaped without injury.

Red Lake Falls firefighters, St. Hilaire firefighters, ambulance crews, and deputies assisted. The Minnesota State Patrol also responded. The burned vehicle was later towed away.

Injured Juvenile Taken to Hospital

A deputy found a loose cow near County Road 1 west of Plummer on July 23. The deputy helped the owner return the animal to its enclosure.

Later, emergency crews treated a juvenile who fell from a scooter in Red Lake Falls. The child suffered a serious leg injury. An ambulance transported the child to a Sanford Health emergency department in Thief River Falls.

That evening, a disabled vehicle was removed from Highway 92 east of Brooks. It had remained there for more than 24 hours. Officials considered it a road hazard and had it towed.
