Thief River Falls Stop Leads to License Charge
THIEF RIVER FALLS — (trfnews.i234.me) A Saint Hilaire man faces a gross misdemeanor charge after a traffic stop.
Joshua Steven Anderson is charged with driving after cancellation as inimical to public safety. The charge was filed in Pennington County District Court.
Traffic Stop Near Davis Avenue
The complaint says the alleged offense happened on May 20, 2026. The stop occurred near Eighth Street and Davis Avenue.
According to the complaint, a patrol officer noticed a silver pickup with expired Wisconsin registration plates. The officer had reportedly seen the pickup parked earlier.
The officer stopped the vehicle and explained the reason for the stop. Anderson then showed the officer current Minnesota plates inside the pickup.

License Status Leads to Arrest
Court records allege the officer checked Anderson’s driving status during the stop. The check reportedly showed his driving privileges were canceled as inimical to public safety.
Anderson was then arrested and taken to the Pennington County Jail for booking. No crash or injuries are alleged in the complaint.
Gross Misdemeanor Charge
Under Minnesota Statute 171.24, this charge is a gross misdemeanor. A conviction may bring up to 364 days in jail. It may also bring a fine of up to $3,000.
The complaint alleges Anderson knew, or reasonably should have known, about the cancellation. Prosecutors must prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was filed under court file number 57-CR-26-347. Public case details may be available through Minnesota Court Records Online.
Search access may depend on the case status and available records. A criminal complaint contains allegations and is not proof of guilt.
Anderson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Future hearings and filings may provide more information about the case.
The court will decide the matter through the judicial process.
