Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) — Barry Wayne Michaud of Osage is facing two charges in Becker County District Court after a traffic stop on September 28, 2025.

The case was filed in Minnesota’s 7th Judicial District. Court records list the file number as 03-CR-25-2084.

Charges Filed In Becker County

Michaud is charged with driving after cancellation as being inimical to public safety. That charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 171.24.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail. It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.

Michaud is also charged with giving a false name to a peace officer. That charge is listed as a misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 609.506.

The misdemeanor charge carries a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail. It also carries a possible $1,000 fine.

Traffic Stop Led To Court Complaint

According to the complaint, a Becker County deputy was on patrol on County Highway 26.

The deputy checked a vehicle’s license plate during patrol. The complaint says the registered owner had revoked driving status.

The complaint also states the registered owner was female. The deputy then observed a male driving the vehicle.

The deputy also noticed a cracked windshield. The vehicle was then stopped, according to the court filing.

The driver allegedly gave the name Barry Wilson. The complaint says he also stated he did not have a license.

A records check showed Barry Wilson was an alias for Barry Wayne Michaud, according to the complaint.

The complaint states Michaud’s driving status was canceled as inimical to public safety.

Authorities said Michaud continued to claim he was Barry Wayne Wilson. The complaint says booking photos were used to confirm his identity.

The complaint also notes a prior conviction for driving after cancellation as inimical to public safety.

Michaud has been charged, not convicted, in this Becker County case. The case will proceed through the Minnesota District Court.
