Warren, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Carla Christene Swenson of Warren has been charged in Marshall County District Court with two felony drug counts. Court records say the case includes a first-degree drug charge tied to more than 500 grams of a liquid said to contain DMT. She also faces a third-degree charge tied to methamphetamine possession near a park zone and in public housing.

What Court Records Say

According to the complaint, authorities learned that a shipment with about 1.08 kilograms of DMT was seized at JFK Airport. The package had been sent from Spain. It was addressed to Swenson at her Warren address.

Authorities later met Swenson at her workplace in Warren. The complaint says a small container with a yellow substance was found. A field test later gave a presumptive positive result for DMT.

During a search of her vehicle, records say authorities found drug items, including a pipe with residue that tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

Items Found During Apartment Search

The complaint says a later probation search of Swenson’s apartment found five mason jars holding a dark liquid, bark said to be used in making DMT, yellow powder residue, scales, pipes, and other drug items. Investigators also reported finding methamphetamine residue on some items.

Court records say some liquids and other materials were photographed and destroyed for safety reasons. The complaint also says Swenson told investigators that naphtha was used in the DMT-making process.

Location Matters In The Case

Authorities said Swenson was found with suspected drugs near Centennial Park in Warren. The complaint says the location was about 181 feet from the park. Court records also state that her apartment was in public housing.

The first-degree charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine. The third-degree charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Charges are accusations. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
