Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) A Mahnomen woman now faces felony and misdemeanor charges after a crash in a parking garage allegedly caused more than $2,000 in damage to a parked car.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Mahnomen County District Court, Alicia Marie Avila is charged with first-degree property damage and failing to notify the owner or police after hitting an unattended vehicle.

Charges Filed

Court records say the felony charge stems from damage that allegedly reduced the vehicle’s value by more than $1,000. The misdemeanor count alleges Avila failed to stop, notify the owner, report the crash, or leave written notice after the collision.

The property damage charge was filed under Minnesota Statute 609.595. The traffic count was filed under Minnesota Statute 169.09.

What Investigators Allege

The complaint says the case began on November 10, 2025, after a report of property damage at 2235 College Road in Mahnomen County.

Devin Larson told authorities she believed her white 2015 Chrysler 200 had been hit earlier that day. The car had been parked in the south garage for months because of bad tires, according to the complaint.

Investigators reported damage to the rear driver’s side fender and taillight. They also said red paint and red taillight glass were found on the white car.

Surveillance video from the garage allegedly showed a red Jeep backing near the parked Chrysler. The complaint says the Jeep struck the rear driver’s side of the Chrysler while maneuvering in the garage.

Authorities allege the Jeep then left the garage area, drove through the parking lot, and later stopped near the front door. A man then came out and pushed the Jeep into a parking spot, according to the complaint.

Investigators identified the woman seen driving as Alicia Marie Avila. The complaint identifies Steven Stone as the registered owner of the red 1991 Jeep Wrangler.

Damage Estimate

According to the complaint, photos of the Jeep showed a broken taillight and scrapes on the rear driver’s side. The repair estimate for the damaged Chrysler was listed at $2,109.14.

The case is filed under court file 44-CR-25-978. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
