GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) Heavy snow collapses the roof at a Grand Forks strip mall Saturday night.
we had a roof collapsed by snow at the former Sterling Optical store on the 2600 block of 32nd Avenue uh on Saturday evening as you can see here tons of snow roof collapsed into the store uh Sterling Optical closed last fall as part of a strip mall not sure who the owner is but this could be a problem for lots of folks in the coming weeks as tons of heavy snow continues to build up on roofs I’m Neil Berg reporting for itrfnews.i234.me
Another Mall that is going to disappear like a fictional Bigfoot in the northern Minnesota Woods never to be seen again ?
Even though Grand Forks is far from being the snowiest place in the country, there are winters when unusually heavy snow buildup occurs. 1996-97 for instance. Or the blizzard of March 1966. Builders must take into consideration unusual snow events, and build accordingly. What a mess.
Isn't this the mall that spent over 2 years remodeling because they encountered deformed roof beams?
At least nobody was hurt! The owner of that property should have removed that snow from the roof of the building, which would have averted costly repairs.
