Heroic Rescue at Detroit Lakes: Man Pulled from Water, Condition Unknown

DETROIT LAKES, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – We have an update from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office regarding a potential drowning at Detroit Lake. At approximately 3:26 p.m. on Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 24-year-old male who had been swimming from shore and went under the water near Zorbas on West Lake Drive in Little Detroit Lake, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Emergency personnel from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, police, DNR, Becker County Dive Team, and St. Mary’s EMS quickly responded to the scene. Citizens had already begun a search, and a heroic individual located the young man a few minutes later. The 24-year-old was unresponsive and not breathing when pulled from the water.

He was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes and subsequently moved to a hospital in Fargo. His current condition remains unknown. The Becker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. The name of the individual is being withheld until the family is notified.
