Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Thief River Falls man is facing new driving-related charges after a late-night traffic stop earlier this month.
According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle on Nov. 17 at about 10:19 p.m. in the 100 block of Gabbi Court. During the stop, the driver, identified as Brian Gregory Sandahl, 55, of Thief River Falls, was taken into custody.

Sandahl has been charged with failure to provide insurance and driving after revocation. Deputies reported that Sandahl’s driving status was checked through the National Crime Information Center, which allegedly showed his license had been revoked after multiple insurance violations.
The vehicle Sandahl was driving was registered to another person. However, deputies noted that Sandahl had produced a vehicle title during an earlier Aug. 23 traffic stop showing the vehicle was purchased in 2024. Court documents say this raised questions about ownership and insurance history.
According to the criminal complaint, Sandahl has a long record of driving without insurance. The complaint lists at least seven citations for no proof of insurance, with the earliest offense dated March 2023. It also states Sandahl has been convicted twice—both in 2024—for similar violations in Dakota County.
Deputies arrested Sandahl after the November stop. His latest charges will be handled in Pennington County District Court. Readers can follow Minnesota court records through the Minnesota Judicial Branch for updates on this case.
