Kandiyohi County (trfnews.i234.me) — Four people were hurt in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 23 in Willmar Township, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash happened at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025. It was on Minnesota Highway 23 at milepost 143. The road was dry at the time.

What happened

The State Patrol says a Freightliner semi was traveling east on Highway 23. Two Dodge Grand Caravans and a Chevrolet Equinox were traveling west. The vehicles collided near milepost 143.

Investigators have not released more details on how the crash started. They also have not said if speed was a factor. The report lists no alcohol involvement for any driver.

Drivers and injuries

The semi driver was identified as Carl Nolan Rains, 66, of Little Falls. He was not hurt. He was not taken to a hospital.

One minivan driver was Christopher Peter Padin, 47, of Clara City. The report lists non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Willmar Hospital.

A passenger in that vehicle was Roxanne Lozano, 47, of Clara City. The report lists non-life-threatening injuries. She was also taken to Willmar Hospital.

The other minivan driver was Sherri Renae Olson, 63, of Raymond. The report lists non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to Willmar Hospital.

The Equinox driver was Hal Fredrick Miller, 77, of Raymond. The report lists non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Willmar Hospital.

Response and updates

Raymond Ambulance, CentraCare Ambulance, and Willmar Fire assisted at the scene. Airbags deployed in the three westbound vehicles, according to the report.
