Willmar Park Shooting Leaves Two Dead, One Critical

Willmar (trfnews.i234.me) — Police have identified two men killed in a shooting at Rau Park in Willmar.

A third man remains hospitalized in critical condition following the Monday night shooting.

Police identified the men who died as Alexis Antonio Quintanilla Deras, 19, of Willmar, and Yasir Diriye Kahin, 20, of Willmar.

Guled Fahran Abdi, 19, was critically injured in the shooting.

Abdi previously lived in Willmar and now lives in Bloomington.

Police said he remains hospitalized in St. Cloud.

Shooting Reported at Rau Park

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. Monday, September 21.

It occurred at Rau Park in the 1000 block of 7th Street Northwest.

The Willmar Police Department previously described the shooting as an isolated incident.

Investigators do not believe the shooting was random.

Police also said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

The department acknowledged that gunfire in a public park can cause fear among nearby residents.

Police described the incident as a serious act of gun violence affecting the community.

Detectives are working to determine what happened before the shooting.

They are also reviewing the actions of each person involved.

Investigators want to know whether anyone else played a role in the incident.
