Roseau County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Minneapolis man is now facing drug charges after a dropped wallet led to the discovery of methamphetamine at the 7 Clans Casino in Warroad.

According to court documents, on June 10, 2025, Red Lake Police were alerted when casino staff found a wallet containing cash and a dollar bill wrapped around a white substance suspected to be drugs. Officer Sandy of Red Lake PD tested the material, and it tested positive for methamphetamine.

Shortly after, a man identified as Elvi Mendez Jimenez, 31, arrived at the casino looking for his lost wallet. With the help of a translator, police confirmed his identity and learned he had an active warrant out of Hennepin County for a previous 5th-degree possession and 4th-degree DWI.

The recovered meth weighed .14 grams, and Jimenez is now charged with:

  • Fifth-Degree Drug Possession (Gross Misdemeanor) — punishable by up to 364 days in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
