Wadena County: Tree Worker Killed Near Menahga
Wadena County (trfnews.i234.me) — A tree removal service employee was killed Thursday afternoon when a tree fell on him near Menahga, according to the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the incident happened around 2:45 p.m. on October 9, 2025, at a rural home in Blueberry Township, northeast of Menahga. Deputies received a 911 call reporting that a man had been struck by a falling tree while working at the property.
People on the scene began CPR before first responders arrived. Despite continued life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the victim had climbed the tree to saw off the top portion when the base broke, causing him to fall as the tree came down on top of him.
The man’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of his family. The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
Workplace safety experts remind tree service workers to use proper support equipment, secure climbing gear, and evaluate tree structure before cutting. For information on safety standards for tree work, visit the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) website.
