Urgent Update: DALP Greenlit as Evacuation Deadline Nears, Millions of Pounds of Waste Still Unaddressed

MORTON COUNTY, ND (trfnews.i234.me) The cleanup of millions of pounds of garbage at the Dakota Access Pipeline protest camp continues, as the completion of paperwork allowing completion of the pipeline is being wrapped up. A showdown could be looming.
the cleanup at the Dakota access pipeline protest Camp continues as the paperwork allowing completion of the pipeline is wrapped up meanwhile a spokesperson for the Morton County Sheriff’s Department says there has been no big influx of law enforcement as around 200 to 300 protesters remain in the camp Rob Keller says the main focus right now is getting the garbage cleaned up before the Corp of Engineers February 22nd deadline and spring flooding the camp is considered an environmental hazard because flooding could wash tons of garbage into the nearby Missouri River right now we are estimating there’s about 250 more loads semi loads uh rolloffs that are out there and that equals about 4.5 million pounds of garbage when you take that 250 so there’s significant cleanup to be done and the question we have is can that be done in time before this March 10th uh time frame when traditionally it would start to melt and Flooding at this point Keller says there is no definite date set as to when any remaining protesters would be moved out no just the the core mention there the date that that is hard is uh what they have determined as the date when they need to have everyone out of the camp so they can go in there and and uh uh what the tribe has not completed and in cleaning uh for them to get in there with some of their contracted agencies to clear that camp uh of of debris um housing whatever it is so that that does not float down the Missouri [Applause] River last week nearly 80 protesters were arrested after clashing with law enforcement when they tried to set up a new camp and some of the protesters I spoke with last week told me they had no intention of leaving it appears likely that getting this entire Camp cleared out and cleaned up will not be a peaceful event I’m Neil Berg reporting for [Music] in.tv
